Newly Hatched

We saw this newly hatched cicada (disambiguation) at our neighbor's  porch wall when we were playing outside.
It was so beautiful  watching how the color of this bug or insect turns from light to  bright green.
In some parts of the world, people eat cicadas.  I don't think I would be able to.

  1. I actually love cicadas; remember them from my childhood years. This one looks like what I remember called the 'Green-Grocer' :) When they start singing it is a chorus leading up to Christmas. The louder they get the sooner Christmas is around the corner ...thanks your comment my blog.

  5. Thank you. I've never seen one quite so New. All I've ever seen are their shells, heard their noise, or seen old grey things on the run from hungry birds. My ABC Wednesday is ABC Wednesday.

  8. Wonderful photos. It's rare to see the cicadas molting.

When I taught science, I used to take the exosketetons and put them on my sweater like a necklace. They stuck to it with the little hooks on the end of the legs. It grossed the kids out, but they loved it!

  10. Cicadas are so noisy especially at dusk. They have that shrill whistling sound that irritates one's ears. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
