My son surprises me sometimes with his subtle thoughts about things. Him and I were watching TV the other day and he suddenly said..
EJ: "I wanna go home Dad".
Me: "You are home son"
EJ "No, I want to go home to our blue house."
It amazes me that he still remembers the house that we lived in while stationed in Korea. It's been 6 months since we left that house but the memory is still very vivid to EJ. I recall my final moments in that house. I spent a few hours doing the remainder of our check-out cleaning alone and I actually felt a little heartbroken to be leaving. I was looking down the hallway towards all of our bedrooms and I could hear the kids yelling the screaming "get us daddy, get us" and I could see them running around just like they were really there. I became so overwhelmed with emotions that I actually teared-up a bit. Those will always be some of the best times that we've had as a family. We spent hours upon hours chasing each other around in that house with countless hours of laughter and bonding. The fact that the kids remember it so clearly tells me that they agree.
The pic above is of our family with Mr. Ha(our navy housing manager). He is a really awesome guy and a good friend of our family.
