My Dad's Cherry Tree

My father has a big cherry tree at his backyard and it is always loaded with fruits every year. We don't really pick them so the birds love to feast on it all day. It's funny because sometimes a bird will be loaded with so much cherry that you can see him like drunk lol. I remember one time, one bird flew right into our window.

Have a lovely week ahead folks.

  3. The fruit brings out the flying friends to nibble on a few for their own consumption. We understand the feeling of a fruit tree as the Mulberry tree in our front yard is bearing fruit, so we see our share of birds (and squirrels) hanging around, hoping to speed up the ripening process...

My father;'s parents lived at 1645 Oregon Avenue, LaBelle section of steubenville (between Brady and Woodlawn). My mother was from Mingo Junction. The last time I was there was in 1999. Yet the memories of visits and living there are still strong. I like Jefferson and Brooke counties. And I remember fraternity brothers renting a house in Weirton Heights. Perhaps I have an affinity for old mill towns (I live in such a town today). The Ohio River valley is so intriguing...

  11. Does this tree have the same beautiful flowers (sakura)like those others in spring? We love cherries, should this have been ours, we'd go to war with the birds lol

  12. Shake that tree onto a drop cloth, when the birds begin to feast, put a pot of them on the stove, just covered with water, cook until the water turns to juice, or when the skins crack on the cherries, strain through a piece of cheesecloth or a cotton dish towel into another container without crushing them, saving just the juice, add some sugar to sweeten to taste, and YOU HAVE FRESH CHERRY JUICE for you and your family. Freeze some for a rainy day or make jelly.
Oh, how I wish I had your Dad's Cherry Tree...
    Blessya

  13. What a beautiful cherry tree. Almost a shame not to harvest the costly berries.
Anyway, the birds and their song from the tree must also be rewarding.

I think that I shall never see, a poem like a cherry tree.

  14. But Joops, those cherries are good to eat. They are good for using in cherry pie also. I am sure if you picked (great hunter) Rose would make you one (food preparer role).
Happy RT! I'm late in getting around all the way, thank you for your visit.
